The basalmost lineage of spiders. This group retains ancestral traits that are lost on the other spider suborders such as segmented abdomen and 7/8 spinnerets located in the middle of abdomen rather than at the end.
Contains only a single family: Liphistiidae.
This group's members include the famous tarantulas, which are popularly kept as pets. Mygalomorphs share some characteristics with Mesothelae such as orthognath chelicerae (parallel-sided), eyes in a compact group, and two pairs of booklungs, but lack the abdominal segmentation and the two pairs of spinnerets are located at the end of abdomen.
Contains 31 families worldwide, of which 6 are known from Indonesia.
The most diverse spider lineage containing >90% of all the spider species. Easily distinguished from the other two groups by the labidognath chelicerae (facing each other) and having one pair of booklungs (absent in certain families).
Contains 104 families worldwide, of which 61 are known from Indonesia.
